When I had more month than money left, I frequently found ways to stretch my grocery budget. A lot of those ways were cutting out some of the conviences. Enchilada sauce - tomato sauce and spices. Taco seasoning - I have all those individual spices in my cupboard. 40 pounds of chicken on sale - borrow my mother-in-law's pressure cooker and get to work (which honestly wasn't as scary as I thought it would be). Sometimes I like the results of my own homemade products (beef jerky) and sometimes it's not worth the trip to the store when I notice I'm out of something.
Canning tends to be a lost art. We have fruit trees and jam tends to be my go-to for all the extra. But you will also find recipes for salsa, chicken, and other things that end up in a sealed jar at my house (when the movitation strikes).
In my frugal years I saved many recipes for quick mixes. Not all of them have made the cut over time. If it makes sense to me to have a bulk mix instead of just mixing the ingredients together fresh I will put the recipe here. So far, only the pancake and waffle mix fits the bill.
A little of this and a little of that. Spice seasoning mixes are some of the easiest to throw together and use. Most of the ingredients are probably already in your stash.
